Job description
Key performance areas:
•Ensuring strict compliance with Safety, Environmental and Operational policies of the Company
•Effective management of vessel crew in accordance with the company’s Policies and Procedures
•Ensuring that operations are carried out efficiently in co-operation with the Client and the vessels being serviced
•Excellent ship handling competence with various ship propulsion systems and in close quarter situations
•Effective management and operation of modern vessel configurations and control systems
•Act as Company Representative in dealings with the Client & External Parties
Minimum requirements
The ideal candidate:
•Possess a valid SAMSA Certificate of Competency as Master Port Operations
•Has a valid Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations Endorsement
•Command experience in a similar capacity will be advantageous
•Experience with Azimuth propulsion systems will be advantageous
•Possess an unrestricted SAMSA medical certificate
•Is fluent in written and spoken English
•Displays strong SHE-Q awareness and compliance
•Displays good leadership abilities and alignment to company values
•Has tanker or bunker barge experience
•Assertive and good decision maker
•Has good computer literacy
•Able to work under pressure
