Job description
Engine Room Watchkeeping duties.
Maintain and upkeep the Engine Room as directed by the Chief Engineer.
Carry out chemical cleaning of various equipment.
Carry out any work required by the Second Engineer.
Carry out bunkering and fueling operations by monitoring soundings and flow rates as directed.
Assist in loading and landing of stores, spares etc.
Assist in the landing of garbage and other waste products.
Partake in the general upkeep of the engine room and associated spaces.
Perform any other duties as may required from time to time under the lawful command of the Master/ Chief Engineer.
Minimum requirements
Has a valid SAMSA Certificate of Proficiency as Able Seafarer Engine (STCW III/5).
Has at least 3 years’ experience in the rank, and have recent seagoing experience.
Has contactable references from previous employers and recent Performance Appraisals (not older than 12 months).
Possesses a valid SAMSA medical certificate.
Holds a valid South African passport.
Is fluent in written and spoken English.
Is able to follow instructions and procedures.
Is able to function well in a team and add significant value to the Engineering Department.
Will comply with strict SHEQ standards and safe working habits.
Displays good leadership and adherence to the company values.
