Introduction
We’re looking for a Junior Desktop Support Technician who has the skills, competence and experience required to strengthen our value proposition, and who is looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic organisation.
Job description

Assist with network administration and support as directed.
Assume responsibility for setting up all hardware related requirements, acquisition of appropriate drivers, installation of required peripherals (such as Network Printers, Wireless devices, Modems, USB devices) etc.
Conduct first level support fault-finding and basic user support for users as required.
Conduct software/application installation as required.
Order new hardware, software and consumables from suppliers.
Ad hoc IT projects as required by the IT Manager.

Minimum requirements

National Senior Certificate (Matric).
A maximum of one year’s fault-finding/user support experience in an Information Technology Support role.
Knowledge of computer hardware, down to component level and the ability to format and set up computers from a zero base without the use of a recovery CD.
Extensive knowledge of Windows 10 upwards.
Working knowledge of the Internet, especially in terms of finding software drivers and finding solutions to computer related problems.
Must have a passion for, and keen interest in the Information Technology field.
Be able to work under pressure.
Be able to work independently without supervision or within a team.
Be able to provide support over weekends and after hours, including travelling to vessels in the Port of Durban and the Port of Richards Bay.
Must be capable of carrying heavy PC equipment.
Own transport with valid driver's license is essential.
